5- The European Union is preparing to counter the GAFA:

The European Union in Brussels is in the process of discussing two regulations to regulate platforms like Google, Amazon, Facebook and Apple: these are the Digital Market Act (DMA) and the Digital Services Act (DSA). These 2 regulations aim to impose obligations, in particular economic ones, on the giants of the net. In the name of competition, the Commission intends to thwart the dominant position acquired by the digital giants in their sector. The EU is also considering imposing additional rules on content moderation. The GAFA are preparing for a lobbying battle. In their defense, they highlight their contribution to technological innovation and their strategic weight in the face of Chinese expansionism.Source: Le Monde newspaper of December 8, 2020.

8- US victim of massive cyber attack

The US administration and thousands of private companies have recently fallen victim to cyberattacks. They began in March 2020 but accelerated during the month of December. According to CNBC, the hackers “used network management software from SolarWinds, a Texas-based computer company, to break into government networks.” Some 18,000 SolarWinds customers have downloaded an update to Orion software, where hackers installed a “backdoor” to give them access to networks, the channel said. This cyber attack, in particular targeted American public entities including the Nuclear Security Agency, it turned out to be “much larger than expected”, adds CNBC. Furthermore, according to the Wall Street Journal, no data has been modified or destroyed, and no infrastructure or computer system has been damaged.

9- How to organize a seminar in a room with the least possible risk of contamination:

First, you should start by explaining to the participants the Covid19, its modes of spread and the means to guard against it and to protect others, referring to reliable sources, such as the WHO.Afterwards, the audience should be asked to maintain the recommended distance, not to remove the mask during the seminar and to keep the doors open, to ensure the renewal of fresh air. Even with respect by all participants of the principle of distancing, it is recommended that the speaker obtains a headset, so that they can be listened to without having to remove the mask. If the seminar takes place in a hotel, it is recommended not to serve meals according to the buffet formula. Because this formula is likely to facilitate the spread of the sars cov 2 virus. Therefore, all meals must be served at the table, as a precaution.

13- Is the covid19 pandemic controllable at the global level?

For the moment, nothing seems that the covid19 pandemic is under control worldwide. There is talk in the media of containment in some places and de-containment in others. Remember that covid19 is a worldwide epidemic that is easily transmitted from one person to another and which causes health complications in a large number of people. So while waiting for large-scale vaccination, we must continue to follow the advice of the health authorities of the moment in the country where we are.

Covid: where do we get infected the most? Lessons from an American study: Modelers at Stanford University combined mobility data from nearly 100 million Americans in the nation’s ten largest cities. Their movements between their places of life and the different types of businesses have been scrutinized. The first lesson of this study is the following: the majority of contamination is linked to a small number of places. Thus, in Chicago, 85% of contamination occurs in 10% of the places examined. Unsurprisingly, it is the restaurants, sports halls, cafes and hotels that are at the top of this ranking of places of super-contamination. In fact, these are all the enclosed spaces, poorly ventilated and which welcome a lot of people.
